Dennis Maps offers a range of services, including printing large format posters. We catch up…
From LinkedIn Ads to leaflets, if you work in marketing, there are a huge range of online and offline channels to choose from when promoting your business. In this era, there’s often a push to use digital content over traditional channels. Yet large format posters remain worthy of inclusion in the marketing mix. “Large format posters are a striking way to promote a business, product, service or campaign. They’re sure to add that touch of magic to your marketing,” says Roger Gilson, Operations Director at Dennis Maps.
Make an impact with large format posters
There are endless possibilities for where large format posters can make an impact! Here are some ideas:
Exhibitions – this type of poster can draw in the crowds when displayed as part of an exhibition stand.
Public spaces – large format posters can draw in new customers when shown in public spaces such as shopping centres, bus terminals, train stations and airports.
The workplace – a carefully placed poster on a wall or noticeboard can be a great tool to market internally to staff. Position it in an area with high footfall for maximum effect.
Posted to your target audience – after printing your large format posters we can add them to a presentation box, with the option to include logos and personalised stickers on the packaging, before posting them out.
Think BIG, print BIG, think Dennis Maps
If you’re looking for large format poster printing you’ve come to the right place! At Dennis Maps our team have years of experience in this specialist area of the print industry. We can help whether you’d like one poster, or several for a range of locations. Although it’s worth noting that the more you order, the lower the price per poster, making it cost effective to order in bulk.
Planning a large print run? Litho printing could be the perfect choice. Our KBA Rapida 162a prints an impressive 4,500 sheets per hour, making it excellent value for money. Thinking of a smaller print run? Then we’d recommend digital printing. We print large format posters digitally using our Canon ColorWave T65 – which are ideal for print runs below 250 sheets.
What size poster do you have in mind? We offer a range of large format sizes up to a 1050mm x 1485mm custom print, and we’re always happy to discuss different options with you.

| Poster Size | Width (mm) | Length (mm) | Required Pixels at 300 dpi |

Paper is another factor to consider. Our standard paper stock is matt-coated 115gsm, although you can choose from a range of papers, all of which are FSC certified and recyclable. Pick from coated (matte, silk or gloss) or uncoated papers, plus a range of weights, from 115gsm to 200gsm. Got another paper in mind? Let us know and we’ll see if we can source it. We can laminate your poster – with gloss or matte lamination – too.
Top tips for creating large format posters
We’ve got several top tips to help you design and create your large format posters:
- Before you design your poster, decide its objectives and target audience and keep these in mind throughout the design process.
- Define your poster’s lifecycle – how long will it be on display and will this impact on the choice of content?
- For poster text, choose fonts that are easy to read and a font size that audiences will be able to see from the distances they’re likely to be viewing your poster.
- Consider if a single or doubled sided poster would better meet your marketing needs.
- Looking for a picture for your poster? 500px, Getty Images, iStock, Shutterstock and Unsplash all over a huge variety of high quality images.
- If you need to edit an image, try Adobe Photoshop, or Canva and Pixlr, which are both free options and easy to use.
- Check that any images on your poster are high resolution to avoid pixellated or blurry imagery.
- Pick a paper weighing 150-200gsm for a high quality, heavy weight feel and to avoid any transparency .
- Decide if you’d prefer coated or uncoated paper. Gloss and silk papers make images on posters stand out and shine (quite literally!) to audiences. Matte and uncoated paper can give a more natural look without any glare.
- Consider adding a QR code to your poster to direct viewers to additional information, and to track how many people visit a URL.
- Include a clear call to action on your poster.
- Decide if your poster will be displayed indoors or outdoors and consider laminating it for outdoor use, for better protection against inclement weather.
- Add a 3mm bleed to your design file and keep important content at least this distance from the edge of your design. Then nothing will be cut off when the poster is trimmed to its final size.
- Don’t hesitate to ask any questions! We’re always happy to hear from current and future customers with any queries.
